Optics PGI

Taylor Hobson offers a wide range of measuring instruments and software solutions for high value applications optics.

Using a modular configuration, these precision instruments are able to offer the ideal solution aspherics measuring the optical, meeting both the immediate and future needs of metrology. A full complement of spherical and aspherical diffracto-analysis packages are available aspherical, allowing the user to fully characterize any lens / lens mold against its design.

Offering a range of unprecedented resolution ratio, the measurement of surface shape and finish can be supplied in a single track, eliminating the need to change styles or to repeat the measurements. Fully automatic is available as standard, making these instruments ideally suited to 24 / 7 production environments where the measurement accuracy, throughput and ease of use are all vital.

Talysurf PGI Dimension

The new Talysurf PGI Dimension is an ideal dedicated metrology instrument for precision measurement of 3D form of shallow and steep aspherical lenses and moulds from <2mm and up to 200mm diameter.

The Talysurf PGI Dimension continues to expand the capabilities of the Talysurf family of instruments. Developed from the Talysurf PGI Blu, the Talysurf PGI 3D Optics offers the combination of a wider range of part diameters (up to 200 mm) with new features supporting 3D measurement. Repeatability can be typically lower than 50nm.

The Talysurf PGI Dimension provides maximum flexibility to the customers. Measurements possible on optics ranging from small (<2 mm diameter) parts with high degrees of slope and up to parts of 200mm in diameter with 20mm of sag. This allows the Talysurf 3D Optics to measure optics used in a range of applications including: Cell phones, digital cameras, Blu-Ray players, projectors, medical and infra-red thermal imaging as used for rescue systems and security.

  • Routine set-up and fully automatic measurement software allows "one-click" calibration and execution of a sequence of repeatable measurements.
  • Able to measure steep slopes up to 85 degrees for 60mm lens.
  • Automatic 3D visualization and analysis astigmatic.
  • Aspheric Analysis software including diffractive analysis.

PGI 3D Optics is an instrument ideal for R&D and factory floor requirements offering large potential cost saving to the company.

Form Talysurf PGI 840

Ultra-high precision processes such as Single-Point Diamond Turning allow aspheric lenses to be manufactured with form tolerances down to small fractions of, reducing wavefront aberations to insignificant levels.

To achieve such levels of precision, metrology must be fully integrated with machining. The Form Talysurf PGI 840 delivers this capability by directly exporting measurement results back to the machine tool, creating a corrective 'feedback loop'. New custom styli expand the range of applications measured using the PGI 840.

  • 120mm Traverse unit with 0.25¼m \ 120mm straightness
  • 8mm Gauge range, 0.8nm vertical resolution
  • 16mm Gauge range possible with 120mm stylus arm
  • 2nm RMS noise floor provides market-leading optics surface finish measurement capability
